Garden news
Festival international des jardins de Chaumont-sur-Loire
19 April-2 November 2025
What if storytelling freed us from the reality of an often difficult world, through imaginary tales and fantastic settings? What if it could also help us to resolve the aporias of a time in constant flux? In the heart of gardens that are free from classicism, the gardens of the 2025 edition plunge us into the fairytale atmosphere of the tales of a thousand and one nights, of Andersen or Perrault. Such epics and fabulous adventures affect us all, and while they speak to children, fairytales also tell us something about the human condition. Thanks to the powerful emotional and philosophical force of myths, the world and the way it works are illuminated.
The gardens of the 2025 edition will take us on a magical journey of initiation. In keeping with the ecological commitment that is the rule at Chaumont-sur-Loire and the creative approach that is the hallmark of the Festival’s laboratory, the designers have come up with stories that are the stuff of mankind and literature. In these gardens to be invented, all the virtues, all the plant qualities and all the themes of our time have been considered and proposed through the prism of storytelling.
Once again, the designers have spared no effort to innovate and make their plot a concentrate of imagination and emotion, as well as aesthetic and botanical knowledge and expertise. New materials, new plants, each more surprising than the last, new settings, new techniques… are all there to surprise and amaze visitors. Once again, the inventiveness of the designers of the 2025 edition of the Chaumont-sur-Loire International Garden Festival has matched the demands of the event.
