Pumpkin festival
12 and 13 October 2024
On 12 and 13 October 2024, the Château du Rivau will be hosting a new festive and gourmet highlight that’s sure to delight the whole family!
Around the Potager de Gargantua and its collection of cucurbits and forgotten vegetable varieties, there’ll be a whole host of gourmet and artistic activities on offer. Jugglers, storytellers, acrobats, face painters, a gourmet market and craftspeople will entertain and surprise you amid the fabulous pumpkins in the garden.
The richness and diversity of autumn flowers will amaze young and old alike. Come and discover these magnificent autumn blooms in warm colours which, combined with the many shades of the trees and shrubs, will add an extra touch of enchantment to the Jardins Remarquables du Rivau. Take one of the guided tours around the gardens to find out more about the gardens and the gardener’s tricks of the trade!
Program 2024
A magical programme for children and a tasty treat for parents awaits you! Games, pumpkin workshops, face painting and photobooths will delight families. The Rivau gardeners will be on hand to offer gardening tips and advice, and there will be guided tours of the gardens. On Sunday, storytelling and strolls will enchant young and old alike. And all weekend long, enjoy the treasures of some fifty craftspeople and exhibitors (please note: not all exhibitors accept credit cards)!
On the programme:
– All day long, the Rivau mediation team will be offering creative workshops for children, as well as games about pumpkins and Autumn: Pumpkin Folting Iris and Clay Herbarium await you! And come and taste the delicious soups from Potager de Gargantua.
– At 11am, 6-12 year-olds can develop their creativity at the Pumpkin Carving workshop (booking required, extra charge, registration below).
– Discover the Rivau gardens, decked out in their pretty autumn colours, on themed guided tours led by Rivau mediators.
– Immerse yourself in the world of the gardens with workshops led by Tiphaine Corbellini, a vegetable garden specialist (printing flowers on fabric, making fat balls for birds, seasonal games…). Tiphaine Corbellini will also be offering walks in the vegetable garden.
– Make-up for your children with Karen Frémont (extra charge, cash or cheque only).
– Don’t forget to estimate the weight of the Rivau Pumpkin 2024! The Pumpkin 2024 will be weighed on Sunday at 5.30pm.
On Saturday, at 2pm, 3.15pm and 5pm, enjoy a juggling show with the Mon Cirque à moi company.
On Sunday at 11am, 3pm and 4.30pm, listen and dream with Les Racontées by the Compagnie En Faim de Conte.
At 3pm, 4pm and 5pm, the Compagnie Conta Quattro will be presenting its juggling show and feats of skill.
