September is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful months of the year for strolling through the gardens of Villandry… and especially its ornamental vegetable garden! Come and celebrate the arrival of autumn during a warm and friendly weekend. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced gardener, you’re sure to leave with plenty of ideas in mind and vegetables in your baskets!

On the programme:

MEET THE GARDENERS OF VILLANDRY – from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm
Villandry undoubtedly owes its fame to the exceptional ensemble formed by its gardens and to the work carried out by its gardeners throughout the year to maintain and preserve them. Over the weekend, the gardeners will be on hand to meet you. It’s a chance to chat and share not only their expertise but also the produce from the kitchen garden!

EXHIBITORS’ AND NURSERY OWNERS’ MARKET – 9.00 am to 6.00 pm
Local produce, plants, decorations, gardening equipment, jewellery… Set up in the heart of the vegetable garden, around twenty exhibitors will be showcasing their products and creations inspired by the world of gardening (bird boxes, garden furniture, floral arrangements, beekeepers, delicatessens, jewellery, watercolours…). Nursery owners will also be present throughout the weekend.

ACTIVITIES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY – from 9.30 am
Throughout the weekend, there will be activities for young and old alike, so the whole family can explore the gardens together:

• guided tours of the gardens (regular departures from 9.30 am – approx. 1 hour 15 minutes)
• flower arranging workshop
• creative workshops (illuminated manuscripts, face painting, hat-making, etc.)
• ‘Le Carrousel des jardiniers’ by the Tête à Plumes theatre company – for children aged 18 months to 8 years
• educational workshops
• pony rides (in the afternoon)
• Beekeeper’s walks, with Mickaël Préteseille (Le Rucher de la Dame Blanche), producer of ‘Miel des châteaux de la Loire’.

Activities are included in the garden admission price (except for the pony ride)
