Rose Festival at Le Rivau
6 and 7 June 2026
On 6 and 7 June, Château du Rivau invites the public to explore its gardens in full bloom during a weekend dedicated to roses, featuring guided tours, activities and opportunities for families, garden enthusiasts and those interested in heritage to come together.
Once again this year, we are celebrating the collection of fragrant roses, which comprises 512 varieties of rose bushes with over 1,600 plants, featured in the Remarkable Gardens of the Château du Rivau. This collection, created by Patricia Laigneau, has been awarded the ‘Conservatoire de la rose parfumée’ label by the CCVS (Conservatoire des Collections Végétales Spécialisées).
“We want to make this event an opportunity for the public, the artists and the gardens to come together, in keeping with the lively and poetic spirit of Le Rivau,” explains Patricia Laigneau.
Whether climbing or shrub roses, old or new varieties, they are chosen for their fragrance and entwine themselves around and climb up the old stone walls. They’re all labelled, so you can find the rose of your dreams. All the more so as this year we will have the pleasure of welcoming a grower of English roses, complementing the many fragrant roses in the collection, as well as, of course, numerous nurseries specialising in French and modern roses.
