World Topiary Day 2026

9 and 10 May

Topiary art takes centre stage for a weekend, organised by Levens Hall in partnership with EBTS France, the French Association for Topiary Art and Boxwood.
Dozens of private and public parks and gardens across France, Europe and the United States are offering a wide range of activities: guided tours, talks, pruning demonstrations, gardening advice, exhibitions…

Eyrignac and its gardens, along with the Jardins de la Ballue, are taking part in this international event.

Eyrignac et ses jardins

Meet the gardeners at the Eyrignac Gardens nursery, which offers a selection showcasing the variety of shapes, patterns and species found amongst Eyrignac’s 300 living sculptures. Over the course of these two days, the gardeners will give demonstrations of pruning boxwood and yew topiaries using hand shears, and will share their expert advice and the various techniques for creating and maintaining topiaries. This event, aimed at gardening enthusiasts, is included in the garden admission ticket.

Les Jardins de la Ballue

Since 2009, the Jardins de la Ballue have organised the annual ‘Topiaires, l’art et la manière’ event every May. Over the course of a weekend, the public is invited to discover the incredible craftsmanship that has brought the castle’s boxwoods and yews to life, transforming the grounds into a uniquely sculpted world for over 50 years. The gardeners, who are on hand especially for this weekend, demonstrate their skills and share tips and tricks on how to prune and care for topiaries. The ‘tools’ workshop showcases the essential tools and explains how to maintain them.
